Have you ever cringed at the ‘F’ word, Forgiveness?  Many  people’s reaction to the suggestion is:  “Why should I forgive that ******!!.  Do you know what they did to me?” I totally understand.  Been there, done that.  But why should you be carrying the weight of their misdeeds?  Do you really want to drag that energy around with you and imprison yourself in a life sentence of resentment?  Here are five tips on how to release and emerge the winner.  (More on Wednesday’s podcast.)

FIVE TIPS ON HOW TO FORGIVE

  1. Ask Yourself is this my karma? Perhaps I did something similar to this person in the past.   Based on the Law of Attraction, we all create people, places and attract events according to our frequency and karma. Acknowledge your part in this event, and the gift of learning it brought you.
  2. Remember that our  worst, and often most painful, experiences are our greatest teachers.  e.g. My psycho mother amplified my psychic gifts. Thank the person, psychically or in person, for the gift of learning. If you don’t understand the teaching now, know that, at some point in the future, you will.
  3. Imagine that the pain of this event is represented by a load of rough bricks. Put those bricks  in a sack and visualize handing them back to the person who hurt you.  That weight is theirs to carry, not yours.
  4. Role play.  None of us are perfect. According to the Dalai Llama, we go through these events to learn compassion for ourselves and each other. Step into that person’s shoes and feel the fear-based emotion that caused their bad behaviour.  Have compassion for their insecurities in that moment.
  5. Surrender this travesty to a higher power. Let go, let God, the Universe –or whichever deity you subscribe to–and let them take this pain  from you and heal it. Know that there is karma and, sooner or later, the balance of justice is always restored.

Now free off this burden,  you can get back to your life of joy!
